History & Origin
Originally bred in Scotland in the mid-19th century, Golden Retrievers were developed as gun dogs to retrieve shot waterfowl during hunting. Lord Tweedmouth is credited with creating the breed by crossing a yellow Retriever with a Tweed Water Spaniel.

Grooming
Requires regular brushing (2-3 times per week) to prevent matting. Sheds heavily twice a year.
